The National Guard football team of the Second Texas Infantry that came together in the months before World War I was composed largely of players from the University of Texas, Texas A&M, and a few from Baylor, Rice, and Southwestern. In their single playing season, they outscored their opponents by a margin of 432 to 6. They chafed over the one touchdown scored against them for as long as they lived.
