A note from the author: Dear Reader: I decided to pull the shoebox out from under the bed and type up the scribbles a few months ago. I have been writing since 1963 give or take and with no intention of ever showing you anything. Let me rephrase that: With every intention of never showing them to anyone. So, when I really started visualizing the moment of publication, it felt like I had broken a promise to my children and was sending them off into the city where the citizens were from one country and my children from another. I felt compelled to create a synaptic bridge for the purpose of setting up the "room." I have attempted to pull up a few comfortable chairs, pour our favorite beverages, and hopefully have left a bit of time for us to take a few deep easy breaths before we even read the first page.
