Santa Barbara Secrets is the third in the "J" Team Series which began with "Wyoming Secrets" and the development of the "J" Team to interdict the radical conservative Christians for a Better America. It was followed by "30,000 Secrets" where the "J" Team tracks down the CFBA leaders and fouling their attempt to eliminate hundreds of Democratic politicians on a flight from Minneapolis to LAX.Penelope sells her veterinarian business and Rebecca retires from the Secret Service. They move to The Ranch, a Spanish style home in the Santa Barbara Hills, which Rebecca had purchased as an investment a decade previously. The ranch boasts fifty-two-hundred square feet, two-stories, five bedrooms, five baths, a family room and a one-thousand square foot guest house next to the Olympic size swimming pool, garages for four cars, and landscape done and maintained by my her neighbor, retired Beverly Hills landscaper, Alejandro. The basement houses a professional, fully automatic pistol range with almost inaudible extraction fans.They develop R&P Investigations with Rebecca training Pen in firearms/defensive tactics. Their first case is a collaboration with the Santa Barbara Police Dept. and the Secret Service. Their task is to determine how American currency from Los Angeles makes its way to the Caribbean and back to the US in the form of political donations, one of the major recipients being the Christians for a Better America.Marc Stucki, former President Bakus' executive chef, is invited by Rebecca, Penelope and a group of investors to open "Marc Stucki's" in a former train station a block from the beach with Penelope and Rebecca providing the interior design of the restaurant and Marc's three bedroom, two bath condo.Supervising Secret Service Agent Jessica Fukishura is deployed to Santa Barbara undercover as an attorney and quickly becomes entangled with a prominent lawyer who has connections with Colombian drug cartels. She works with R&P Investigations and local authorities to determine the depth and breadth of the Southern California cocaine business.Secret Service Agents Jason Spencer, Elisabeth Peltowski and Jackson Pennington, having been released by the LAPD from completing their investigation of the downing of the Mahalo Airlines plane off the coast of LAX, join Rebecca and Penelope at the ranch to aid in the investigation.The agents and R&P collaborate on the investigations, developing parties at the ranch, enjoying Santa Barbara's finest cuisine while integrating their expertise with LAPD detectives.
