She wanted an explanation as to why her most important patient-Jean Silverstein, Mayor of Detroit, a forty-six- year-old mother of two, happily married, in the prime of life-had suddenly dropped dead. The doctors at Sinai Hospital in Detroit are baffled by the death of their mayor. An undetected brain aneurysm is suspected at first, but when Dr. Newman witnesses the mysterious deaths of other influential public figures, it becomes clear that something is amiss. His suspicions are confirmed following brain surgery on the Governor of New Mexico. Soon, he finds himself taking part in top-secret military action of the highest importance. Dr. Fred Zydeck has an extensive background in medicine.
