Max and Susan, both brilliant scientists, are approached by alien Topeks to help stop an impending nuclear war and the annilhilation of mankind. The Topeks are an ancient culture that hsve observed and helped humans for centuries and now offer to help prevent us from destroying ourselves. They give assistance by granting access to vast technical knowlwdge contained in the Epiphany Crystals and are given one year to stop the inevitable war. Failing that, they will be evacuated off-world to start a new civilization. Max and Susan are awestruck when they learn the full extent of the Topek proposal. The story is richly told and won the Heartland Writers Guild "Best Fiction Award" for 2011
