The Greyhound Its History, Points, Breeding, Rearing, Training and Running (A Vintage Dog Books Breed Classic)Dalziel, Hugh Originally published in London 1886, this rare early work on the Greyhound is both expensive and hard to find in its first edition. VINTAGE DOG BOOKS have now republished it using the original text and illustration. The author was a highly respected expert on dogs who wrote several important breed books. He was also Kennel Editor of "The Bazaar." The book contains six detailed chapters on: - History of The Modern Greyhound. - Coursing. - Breeding. - Rearing. - Training. - Waterloo Cup Winners from 1836 - 1886. In addition VINTAGE DOG BOOKS have also added a significant amount of extra material gleaned from other early writings on greyhounds. There are two extra chapters added, one written by distinguished dog writer, Vero Shaw, and the other by the noted dog researcher and historian, James Watson. Both chapters contain much further detail on the development of the greyhound and also a wealth of superb black amp white illustrations and photographs of famous dogs of the day. This is a fascinating read for any Greyhound enthusiast or historian of the breed, but also contains much information that is still useful and practical today. "Chuse the Greyhound pied with black and white: He runs more swift than thought or winged flight." Many of the earliest dog breed books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. VINTAGE DOG BOOKS are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
