You do not need to be intimidated by claims of the Pentecostals. And, if you are a preacher, the people in your congregation do not need to be intimidated-but you need to prepare them to stand against the false claims that are made by Pentecostal people. The most common claim is, "We have the Holy Ghost, and you do not!" Someone may ask one of your members, "Do you have the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues?" (By the way, they like to say, "Holy Ghost" [KJV] instead of "Holy Spirit." The word "Ghost" provides a mystical element to their faith, which is something they like.) In any case, what will you do when someone challenges you with respect to the Holy Spirit? By knowing their doctrines and knowing the scriptures, you can answer their claims and challenges. But you need to be prepared, as Peter said in 1 Peter 3:15: "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." We need to be ready to answer and to defend God's truth. It is hoped that after examining this book and carefully pondering the Bible truths presented, the reader will come to a fuller understanding of the subjects contained under the heading of "Pentecostalism" and will be better equipped to study with anyone affiliated with one of those groups.
