The Case of the Amorous Caddy

Dennis Bumper is a cabdriver who works as a part time golf caddy at a swanky club on Staten Island. A holy roller, Dennis falls hopelessly in love with a married club member. Dennis, in an attempt to break up the marriage, secretly follows and harasses the husband, a plastic surgeon. After gathering what he believed to be incriminating information, Dennis tells his love interest what he found out. This leads to an explosive confrontation that culminates in Dennis brutally murdering her. Dennis, shifts blame for his actions onto the physician husband and others. In seeking vengeance he goes on to commit additional murders. Detective Sergeant Al Markie and Detective Oliver Von Hess are called in to help investigate these homicides. After Dennis is identified as the killer, a manhunt for him commences. Dennis is harbored by a fellow holy roller. The caddy intends to give himself up to the law, but only after he confesses his sins to a priest. The priest in question, Father Billy, is in actuality a criminal impersonator who, along with a girlfriend posing as his assistant, bilks elderly parishioners. In the midst of this Markie's receives information on a past homicide that places the spotlight on his old nemesis, Fishnet Milligan. Fishnet, on a quest to establish himself as a movie producer, seeks to further the career of his talented actor girlfriend. Wanting to solidify his hold over her, Fishnet seeks out the services of Father Billy, who he knows to be a rogue. Markie and Von Hess now find themselves looking at more murders and begin to slowly fit the pieces into an all encompassing puzzle. This Markie tale is one full of surprises that begin with The Case of The Amorous Caddy and ends with the reader thirsting for more.
