Who Has Your Back?

Sean Garmen was an automotive genius. He serviced some of the most prized cars on the continent, until the day he tripped over one of his son's toys and wound up with disabling back pain.

Doctor Henry Winslow was an orthopedic surgeon who could no longer operate. He was hired as the medical director of the WhiteGuard Health Insurance Company and charged with the task of reducing WhiteGuard's expenses for pain management. He passionately pursued that goal until the day he took a nasty fall and wound up with obnoxious back pain.

In their searches for relief, both Sean Garmen and Henry Winslow were victimized by the for-profit health care system that Henry helped to create. Each of them suffered from misdiagnoses, drug regulations, the promotion of certain procedural and pharmacologic interventions, insurance restrictions, and bad care by a predatory surgeon.

Ultimately, Sean and Henry each arrived at unthinkable solutions for their pain.
