The goal of this revision is to update all clinical content, guidelines, and standards and emphasize the role of the early childhood educator (ECE) in the health of the children they serve. New content will focus on how ECEs can work with all families and communities to ensure equitable practices and address health disparities. Many chapters will be a collaboration of clinical practitioners and early childhood professionals to provide health and medical guidelines within the unique framework of the early childhood profession. As with the previous editions, many of the American Academy of Pediatrics' standards (Caring for Our Children) will be referenced and explained along with other national standards including CFOC/AAP, US Consumer Safety Commission, and CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program). Important checklists and forms can be included with permission. This will be a practical text that can serve as a primary textbook for higher education specifically for the course on Health, Safety, and Nutrition in both AA and BS programs for educators and administrators. It can be used also by administrators for training staff.
