Vita is a Bosnian Muslim gypsy who oversees the jail and is a member of the Muslim Rogue Army plotting to destroy Mostar's Croats. Aided by a Serbian double agent, Vita diverts attention from the illegal arms she is running by accusing Katrina of spying. As Katrina seeks to save the children and the city she has grown to love, she confronts her shadow and learns to accept herself and Lucien's help. Serbian maps and plans outlining Mostar's destruction fall into her hands. Kathryn must act to save the country and people she has grown to love.
