Exasperated and angry at the number of crimes against animals which go unpunished, Frau Geiger, an avid animal advocate, recruits two of her former students to exact revenge on some of the worst offenders. Motivated by horrific events in her local area, her ultimate goal is to become an assassin so that she can "kill those guys that kill the baby seals." Her cohorts, Gino and Jackson, have mixed emotions about her revenge plots but follow her loyally into the fray. Initially, the adrenaline rush of the adventures they encounter is sufficient for them to remain a part of her team. Ultimately, they must decide whether they share her zeal for punishing animal abusers. The big issue is how far will she go to insure that justice is served on the perpetrators that she targets? Jackson, in particular, questions her sanity and his willingness to commit to tactics he deems questionable. Set in Texas, Frau's sheer enthusiasm for her revenge fantasies and the sense of place, which is so vivid it almost seems like a character in the plot, provides a tale that is sometimes heart-breaking and at other times, hilarious, but always makes the reader cheer for the animals' retribution.
