Malice In The Snow : -

My husband and I had toured Alaska during a summer and were persuaded us to live in Alaska during a winter. We drove off and 76,000 miles later arrived in the Panama Canal region where we pondered that suggestion and thought it would be a good idea. We had always lived in the tropics, so we thought, 'What about living in sub-zero temperatures. That will make a change.' Our cabin was built by Pete and Nancy Robinson and is/was located around Lake Ermine, opposite Mount Denali. Everyone was just great. George, Bimji and Shanti, were lovely neighbours and it was George who built a geodesic dome that I mention in the novel. The story, therefore, is very slightly auto-biographical. It is set in Juneau because I needed a small town atmosphere and I know I have taken liberties with the snow accumulation in Juneau but my imagination took over! Alexandra Lenz
