God is not a man that he should lie. Therefore, whenever he speaks, obedience is the only expected response. When we choose to obey...there's no need to repent. But when we disobey, and rebel, we suffer pain and loss. Born in sin and shaped in iniquity, we are by nature prone to all unrighteousness. But God, who is rich in mercies and because of his everlasting love, provides repentance as the doorway through which, we can begin a new life--old things are passed away and behold all things become new. Jesus said, "Marvel not when I say to you, you must be born again. (John 3:7, KJV)Being Born-Again, His Spirit abides in our hearts. As we continue to yield ourselves to Him--He empowers us to live in obedience to the word of God. A life of continuous repentance may seem godly but it's slavery--to sin. So, why keep repenting? When we can instead learn to be obedient, for when we're obedient there's no need for repentance. Come.... Let's go on unto perfection. (Hebrews 6:1).Repentance is never a substitute for obedience. Therefore, learning obedience should be the primary focus of every Christian--not repentance. Like building a house, repentance lays the foundation upon which we are to build a spiritual house for an habitation of God through the spirit. Therefore, obedience is not an option, but an absolute essential to Christlikeness. You cannot have bacon without the death of the animal, so to you cannot be a Christian without yielding and becoming--"Obedient unto death..."(Philippians 2:8). Jesus learned obedience by the things which he suffered--"Let us arm ourselves with the same mind..."(1 Peter 4:1).
