Rowdy Yates, a big city private detective, accepts a job to investigate a modern-day cattle rustling syndicate operating in the mountains of Idaho. Sandra Steele, his lady friend and a current ATF agent, vehemently opposes Rowdy going to Idaho. Upon his arrival in Idaho, Rowdy finds his investigation compromised when thousands of wolf supporters and environmental groups converge on the state to protest the first-ever legalized wolf hunt. Tensions between the outsider environmentalists and locals escalate when the bodies of two hunters are found in the backcountry. Also, a teenage boy disappears.
