Have you read the novel by Samuel Becket, Waiting for Godot? It is about two companions who go through life waiting for someone named Godot who never shows up. In one sense, all of us who proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes in glory (Eucharistic Prayer), wait for the coming of Christ. We do not know when that will be, so it does not matter. As one who can only aspire to be a Lay Cistercian, I want to prepare for the coming of the Lord in my heart each day. I use Cistercian practices to move closer and closer to God. Unlike the play, Waiting for Godot, Christ has come for those who know how and where to look. He is right under our very nose, just waiting for us to recognize the signs and then do something about it. This book is about some ways that you might find useful to prepare for the coming of the Lord until he comes again in glory.
