The word, "apocalypse" is a term we understand to mean a world-wide catastrophe. However, the Greek word we adopted it from, "apokalupsis," means an unveiling or revelation. The last book of the Bible is called The Revelation (Apocalypse) of Jesus Christ. That book reveals Jesus Christ for who He is. He came once as a suffering servant to bear the sins of mankind on the cross. In His second coming as Almighty God, he will reclaim the earth from the wicked powers who now subjugate it. That reclamation will be sequential and catastrophic. He will take the title deed of the earth that has been sealed with seven seals and unroll it. As each seal is broken, judgment will fall upon those inhabitants of the earth who hate Him and scorn the cross. Even so, the judgments only gradually increase in severity in order that people may have the chance to repent of their sins and receive Him as Lord and Savior. The Book of Revelation is history written in advance. AND IT WAS NIGHT is a historical fiction of future history, a story of what could happen to a peculiar young man and a unique young woman who live in that perilous time. The geographical setting is eastern Oklahoma. The subtitle, "A Tale of Hope in a Time of Trouble," shows that even in great tribulation God continues to hold out His gracious offer of salvation for anyone who will believe in His Son Jesus Christ. The unlikely hero and unlikely heroine of this story, John, and Aisling, embark on a great adventure and into great peril. Given their extreme differences, it is doubtful that they will become friends. In their attempt to escape the wicked powers of tyranny they encounter each other and join a sort of underground movement opposed to the spiritual cancer of the new world order. But how will it end?
