In Central Park, New York, a young woman asks a tourist for help. The meeting sparks off a series of other encounters, and a dangerous hide and seek game ensues. (Especially because, the longer he thought about it, he believed it to be one of his own making.) He suddenly felt strange wearing the clothes of Vera's husband. Somehow, he thought, he did not fit into them anymore, considering who had worn them before. Therefore, Oskar changed back into his own clothes, even if this, in his view, estranged him somewhat from his hosts again.
