Drawing on first-person accounts, this study traces the historical development of the jazz community in Bristol, UK from 1945 to 2012. The learning experiences of jazz musicians are discussed against the changing backdrop of their economic, cultural and educational circumstances, from the post-war years to the current national school curriculum.
