Causality link between conflict and poverty might have two directions; however, there is consensus that conflict causes poverty. Knowledge on livelihood is the departure point for poverty reduction. This book is about livelihood of Nuba people of Sudan, and how it has been affected by a state of chronic conflict. The context of the study is origin and culture that make the identity of Nuba, their marginalization, war, and contemporary livelihood. The war has induced a social rift between the community segments as people were forced to split between the two warring parties. Either way, they have suffered a reign of violence, terror, raids, rapes, and lootings at hands of fighting troops on both sides. The book highlights the implications of such situation upon their livelihoods, specifically the social capital. It includes testimonies from people who have survived the war. Conflict usually seems to have only negative dimension; have the Nuba experienced a positive one? Experience of the IDPs answers this question. The book is multidisciplinary, and should be especially useful for development professionals, sociologist, anthologists and whoever concerns about minorities
