The welding of aluminium is most complicated because of its inherent thermo-physical properties like high thermal and electrical conductivity, coefficient of thermal expansion, low melting point, low strength, excellent ductility & oxide layer etc. There are so many welding processes which can be used for aluminium. Keeping in mind the potential capabilities of Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding process in today's fabrication industry like sound and consistent weld quality, all positional capabilities etc.and selecting aluminium as base metal due to its increased demand in aerospace and automotive industries, a study is undertaken for welding 6mm thick aluminium alloy plates. Three primary welding parameters viz. welding current, arc voltage, welding speed are selected for this study and the investigations are carried out to study their cumulative effect on the ultimate tensile strength, micro hardness and micro structure of these welding joints. The most important point is the presentation of material in clear and simplified way so that readers don't find any difficulty in its clear understand
