Internet of Things, Embedded Solutions, and Edge Intelligence for Smart Health

The Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming increasingly popular in the healthcare domain due to the possibilities offered to monitor patients' health status remotely in real time. Moreover, the integration of IoT with edge intelligence solutions has started to bring further advantages in its use; in fact, by allowing the devices to locally process and analyze the data, it can make a difference in applications where real-time decision-making or low latency is required. By collecting and analyzing data from multiple sources, these solutions can provide a more complete picture of an individual's health and allow for more personalized and proactive healthcare.

This Special Issue aimed at presenting interesting papers focused on the exploitation of the IoT and edge intelligence in the healthcare domain. The included papers cover various topics, such as innovative healthcare architectures to improve patients' conditions; innovations for personalized healthcare; solutions based on real-time decision-making for the healthcare domain; edge intelligent solutions for the early detection of potential health issues; solutions to improve communication and coordination among healthcare professionals in critical scenarios; and innovative healthcare systems for providing prompt reactions and interventions in cases of emergency.
