The main objective of this publication was to explore the challenges faced by children in residential care facilities from the points of view of the children themselves, their caregivers, and administrators as well as social welfare officers, who are responsible for the maintenance of standards and ensuring that the facilities are run in line with government policies. Data for this study was collected from key stakeholders involved in care facilities, and the findings were synthesized to formulate practical and sustainable solutions, based on empirical evidence. Moreover, the research incorporated a thorough review of relevant literature and publications authored by experts in this field. This holistic approach did not only build upon existing knowledge but also generated new insights that could benefit care facility stakeholders, researchers, and students, interested in this critical area of study. The research found out that children residing in residential care facilities face a multitude of challenges. The study underscores the need for a holistic approach to residential care for children, addressing their emotional, educational, physiological, and social needs.
