The utilization of solar energy in Sierra Leone has gained attention due to its potential to address the country's energy challenges. However, limited adoption of solar energy systems prevails, primarily due to economic constraints faced by individuals and businesses. Recognizing this, the government, non-governmental organizations, and private enterprises have increasingly invested in solar energy initiatives across the country. Despite these efforts, concerns regarding power quality in solar energy systems persist, hindering their effectiveness and causing dissatisfaction among users. This thesis presents a comprehensive investigation into the power quality issues encountered in solar energy systems in South-Eastern Sierra Leone. A mixed-method research design was employed, combining observation, causal research design, and survey methods to gather data and analyze the identified issues. Natural phenomena and system performance were assessed through direct observation and non-intrusive monitoring, focusing on grid-tied and stand-alone solar systems. The study highlights the challenges faced by solar energy users in the region. Initial satisfaction with solar power supply.
