They are prepared from the patient's own blood, where activated platelets are enclosed within a fibrin matrix scaffold and release growth factors and cytokines that play a key role in tissue regeneration. This includes cell proliferation and differentiation, extracellular matrix synthesis, chemotaxis, and angiogenesis. Platelets have been confirmed to aid in regeneration due to their pool of growth factors that are responsible for neovascularization, collagen synthesis, cell division, cell differentiation, induction, and migration of other cells to the injured site. They contain fibrin, fibronectin, and vitronectin that contribute to connective tissue, a matrix, and create an efficient network for cell migration.In implantology, platelet concentrates significantly improve implant stability and reduce marginal bone loss in the short term.
