Antifungal power of Artemisia herba alba and Thymus vulgaris

Thyme (Thymus vulgarus) and mugwort (Artimisia herba alba) are two medicinal plants that have been used in traditional Algerian medicine since ancient times to cure many illnesses. Hydro distillation is the main method for obtaining essential oils from medicinal plants. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) has shown and identified the presence of two chemical groups for each essential oil.The results of the aromatogram confirmed that the two essential oils obtained, in particular thyme essential oil, are highly effective natural antifungal agents and can be used as alternative remedies to combat various fungal diseases in humans or in veterinary aromatherapy for domestic animals.
