Migration is a continuous process. It is an obstacle in the social and economic development of any country at the Global level where underdeveloped countries are undeveloped and developed countries become richer and richer. There is an authentic need to avoid this, especially in a country like India which is developing. The present study focuses on migrants from Odisha to the Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad-slum area. Odisha is an adjacent state and economically backward compared to Andhra Pradesh. It has attempted to glance at the incidence of migration for six decades (1961-2011) from the census of India. Under Primary data, a survey was conducted on the entire Odiya households(121) in a purposively selected slum of Kapra Municipality, Hyderabad; with a mixed population of Odiyas and Telugu-speaking people. Secondary data revealed the major reason behind migration to Andhra Pradesh is Marriage and to Hyderabad family moved and others. Primary data revealed the driving force behind sending remittances were influenced by Altruism rather than Pure self-interest and Enlightened self-interest. The shorter the duration of stay at the destination, the higher the chance of sending remittances.
