Pedro Juan Gutiérrez distilled into seventeen Cuban stories full of vitalism, rawness and sex. Seventeen stories that function as a succession of Cuban prints, like a portrait of life on the island over three decades. Carlitos makes his way through adult life, experiencing excitement and disappointment. And interacting with women who will mark him: the mother, the sophisticated aunt, the neighbor, the young divorcee, the mature and virgin woman. The author was very celebrated in the nineties. He is considered the contemporary classic par excellence of Cuban literature.
