What the Actual Cluck

Ophelia Mortimer's eight year old daughter is the most powerful Necromancer the world had seen in centuries. Having just enough power to see ghosts, Ophelia's life revolves around both protecting her daughter from her power and preparing her to weild it-- or not, as she chooses. They have a relatively quiet life together on the family property turned hobby farm.

Ignoring, of course, the zombie silkie rooster her daughter raised from the dead.

Then, one night, a ghost dog leads Ophelia into the woods, where she discovers the body of a young woman. Who the woman was, why she was found on Ophelia's property, and the strange behavior of the woman's ghost, all drag Ophelia deeper and deeper into a world she wants no part of.

A world in which she unknowingly already plays a key role.
