A Question of Import

Captain Everett Twyle could have chosen any policemen he wanted for his elite team of detectives but, to the surprise and dismay of many, has instead hired a woman, a wizard, and a man whose resume is vague at best. They choose their own cases and they get the job done, even though their methods may be unconventional.

The case this time is a missing teenage girl, apparantly vanished from her bedroom in the middle of the night. Probably a runaway, according to the first cops on the scene. Twyle suspects there must be more to it than that.
