Eastern Indian Shield consists of Chotanagpur Gneissic Complex, North Singhbhum Mobile Belt and Singhbhum craton which evolved at 0.95 Ga, 1.3 Ga and 2.1 Ga annum respectively (Saha et al., 1984; Chatterjee et al., 2008; among others). It is one of the major tectonic units in the Indian subcontinent depicting the evidences of metallogenesis epochs upto the level of prospective mineral deposits. The metallogenic provinces are directly correlated with different epochs of geological time scale and linked to the evolution of Eastern Indian Shield. The eastern Peninsular India has undergone plate motion disturbances which were interrupted by the readjustments by process of isostasy in Precambrian times. This phenomeona may be responsible for the geothermal province. Thus, the Eastern Indian Craton has a unique combination of both the metallogenic and geothermal provinces. 1.1 Indian Peninsula A shield can be described as region with large extent which has an exposure of igneous and metamorphic crystalline rocks of Precambrian age and is stable tectonically for significant geological time. The Indian Peninsula also contemplated as Precambrian Shield, is triangle shape located southward of Indo-Gangetic alluvial plain
