The Tall Tales of Mr. Vigilance

Five Friends go into a saloon to drink the night away and share stories about one, mysterious figure. They gather together to talk about Mr. Vigilance. Mr. Vigilance's legend has grown as a principled man who is the embodiment of justice during a time of lawlessness and injustice. The stories tell of him clad in all white, and ready to serve justice when it is most needed.

The five friends share their tales of Mr. Vigilance. Some of the feats they describe are down to earth and quite believable. Others are downright fantastic and unbelievable. This is no surprise considering that just about all legends are embellished to make them bigger than they are. All the stories share the same theme of Mr. Vigilance saving the day and upholding justice.

All of the five friends are convinced of Mr. Vigilance's purity of intentions and integrity. All of them, except for one. Jim Hornet is a retired sheriff who has aged with the years. He has grown to be a grumpy old man who did not age very gracefully.

He contests the stories about Mr. Vigilance and flatly believes them all to be outright lies. The friends aren't really that surprised with Jim's behavior, considering his age and temperament. He's always been this way and that's not at all surprising. What is surprising is that Jim himself has a tall tale to tell. His tall tale describes his own encounter with Mr. Vigilance and may hold the truth about who Mr. Vigilance really is.
