Songs from the Beautiful Place: Mystical Poetry of the Soul

Songs from the Beautiful Place: Mystical Poetry of the Soul
Silence is the language of God; all else is poor translation.
- Rumi
There really is a "Beautiful Place," but it's not a place. It's a state of consciousness that opens up through the portal of the Heart and reveals its jewels and treasures to the perceiver-sometimes as a sublime knowing of Oneness, sometimes as incomprehensible vastness, sometimes as indescribable Love beyond love-but always with a silent, sentient Presence at the core.
This Presence, this Eternal Awareness, is what we are and what we've always been and will be, regardless of the incarnational suit we put on. But there is a veil that shields our clear view of this-because otherwise we wouldn't be able to play the game.
In truth, we are multi-dimensional beings of Light, sparks of God dreaming our story here on Earth (and elsewhere) for a short time to explore, learn, give, love, play, create, feel and evolve as Souls. Beyond this, we are Everythingness and Nothingness in pure potential. There is only One, and all is That, including you (in disguise for now).
Songs from the Beautiful Place is a collection of moments in which I've peeked through the misty veil and then felt compelled to try and capture the essence of the experience in words, as many poets do. Of course, as Rumi says, it will always be a poor translation of what is essentially unspeakable. But still, we try.: -)
Many of these poems also chronicle the struggle of the human part of myself as she moves through the overgrown weeds of the ego (belief in a separate self) in an attempt to free herself from their grasp. Anyone on a genuine spiritual journey knows that it is not all "love and light," as they say. True spirituality requires grit, unshakable determination, and often some teary sleepless nights, as these conditioned internal structures crack and fall away. A good friend of mine calls this "the unglamorous side of spirituality," which always makes me smile because it's so true. And necessary.
So, I hope you enjoy these poems. Read them through your Heart, and let the mind come along for the ride.
