Harry Morgan, private investigator par excellence, is hired to locate a missing young woman by her immensely wealthy family. Seemingly by happenstance he reads a cryptic message in a newspaper classified ad that Harry deciphers as addressed to him. It leads him to a cocktail lounge that exists outside of time while populated by a strange and weird company of highly intelligent insects and animals that enlist his expertise in a venture to prevent the destruction of the universe. Their leader, again by happenstance, is none other than the absent woman he seeks but who has preceded them on this intergalactic voyage With no more than this to go on, Harry is whisked away to a planet far from any human observation or knowledge where he comes flesh face to stone face with the perpetrators of this dastardly attack on all universal life forms, a silicon-based race that delights in this deadly cat-and-mouse game for their own amusement. Coincidences continue to pop up that feel too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence. Clueless as to what to do, Harry can only watch and wait while sipping Zombies to fortify himself. But time is running out and excruciating unrelenting torture is forecast if he fails. Is life worth living, he wonders? It all depends on the liver.
