The book is about adapting to suffering. Our Lady of Kibeho told the young visionaries in the 1980's "that no one enters heaven without suffering." It is said suffering is not an elective, it is a required course. It is unavoidable. Overmedicate, commit suicide, "grin and bear it" are some of the choices people use.
Jesus and Mary know something about suffering. The author digs deep into their lives showing how much pain and suffering they experienced and how they delt with it. As asked by Jesus and Mary during apparitions, followers formed the devotions to Divine Mercy, the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Our Lady of Seven Sorrows. The author provides background on each movement and their relationship with suffering.
The fourth station of the cross when Jesus meets his mother Mary is highlighted by a deacon of the Church in his book "My Stations". The image he selected reminds us of the Simeon prophecy that Mary's soul will be pierced by a sword and Isaiah's prophecy of Jesus' passion and crucifixion and the united suffering in their lives.
The book ends with a powerful insight about suffering by a friend who died last year from pancreatic cancer.
