The first twelve sonnets comprise the series The Ballad of Mary Paulson. Mary was an outsider in her hometown. However, once in college, she made friends and started developing herself as a Wiccan. When one of her friends is being used by a worshiper of Shub-Nigggurath to open a portal for the dark elder god, it is up to Mary to try to save the day. The remaining poems are isolated Lovecraftian sonnets.
