Translation of the book, Original Bhagavad Gita "The Song of God" . Is a short Sanskrit poem of just 700 lines (sloka), inserted into the great epic poem Mahābhārat. It narrates the encounter of Arjuna, brave leader and prototype of the hero, with Krishna, an incarnation (avatara) of the Divine in human form. It happens on the battlefield of Kuruksetra, observing Arjuna's hesitation that he should fight against people of his own race, and refusing to contribute to a fratricidal struggle. It talks about material nature, (prakriti), time (the total duration of the universe, i.e. the duration of the manifestation of material nature) and karma (action). . These fundamental truths are the basis on which the Bhagavad-gita rests to show that God, Sri Krishna, perceptible even as a supreme principle, or supreme controller, surpasses all other beings, although they all participate in the nature of him.
