He was a career Marine who held a Marine Corps reconnaissance command in combat, then served as Marine Liaison Officer to Spain. On retirement he was elected to the position of County Commissioner which he held for 8 years. He won many rifle shooting championships along with several national records. He was a member of the All American collegiate rifle team all three years he was eligible. He lived 6 years in Europe and 3 in the far East. He was an active diver for 50 years. This wealth of experience was the grist for a large number of short stories, some of which are repeated here. He places them in context while showing their genesis which makes them live for the reader.
