Smashed: A Memoir of Alcoholism and Recovery

Alcohol is the one thing I found that cured all my problems, trials, and tribulations. It made bad situations better and good times great. Liquor allowed me to be the person I wanted to be, and I had found the part of me that was missing. When alcohol started to lose its effect and drinking no longer gave me the euphoria it once did, it was as if I had lost my best friend, but I still had to drink.

The cause of addiction or alcoholism is still somewhat unknown, but genetics, environment, and trauma are all factors. The one thing I want people to know is that we do recover, and a life beyond one's wildest dreams is possible. I had to give up one thing for everything instead of giving up everything for one thing. I found a new way to live. This memoir is my account.
