The purpose of this study is to create a source document on microfinance strategies for managing directors in the microfinance banks to maintain sustainability in the microfinance business. Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh, the founder of the Grameen Bank and author of the book
Banker to the Poor, established the microfinance banks (MFB) in 1976 (Ault & Spicer, 2013). Microfinancing indicates the inclusion of the working poor in financial services distribution to have access to funding without collateral and to improve the welfare of the family (Ault & Spicer, 2013). The improvement of family welfare creates positive social and
economic development in the polity, which gave rise to the decision to incorporate microfinance into the economic system of Nigeria (Abraham & Balogun, 2012).
