Jenny Doan's journey from a small-town girl with a passion for sewing to an international quilting sensation is nothing short of extraordinary. Born Jenny Fish on June 11, 1957, in the picturesque town of San Luis Obispo, California, she was the daughter of Franke Fish, a chemist, and Deannie Fish, a homemaker and genealogist. Her early years were spent in the scenic Salinas Valley and the Monterey Bay area, following a family move to Spreckels, California, to be closer to her father's job with the Smucker jam company.Jenny's love affair with sewing began at the tender age of ten when she joined the 4-H Club youth organization. It was here that she first learned the basics of sewing, a skill that would later become the cornerstone of her career. Throughout her adolescence, Jenny continued to hone her sewing skills, a passion that she carried into adulthood. As a newlywed, she crafted intricate costumes for the local theater group, a testament to her enduring love for fabric and thread.
