An Exposition of the Foreword of Jesus to the Lord's PrayerThe desired outcomes for the readers are:

• Having the insight into the most common cause of a prayerless life.
• Igniting their deep desire to pray.
• Ending any reliance on gimmicks in praying.
• Following the simple steps taught by Jesus when praying to the Father.
• Receiving the Father's reward in all their prayers.
• Letting the Father speak to them when they are praying.
• Getting ready to learn the powerful dynamics of The Lord's Prayer.

This is a short and sharp exposition on the curtain-raiser of Jesus (Matthew 6:5-9a) before He introduced The Lord's Prayer. Jesus first taught the disciples about the errors and misconceptions of prayer. There are six key points to take note regarding His teaching on 'the wrong way to pray'. Jesus said that people might pray with all kinds of designs but not all prayers are heard or rewarded by God. Most importantly, He taught the disciples that their Father knows what they need before they ask Him. This exposition of Matthew 6:5-9a seeks to prime the reader for subsequent expositions on The Lord's Prayer in the series. Before learning how they should pray properly, Jesus found it necessary to teach the disciples to reject foolish ways of praying.
