This text is an addition to the limited resources relating to rural education in circulation or in educational programs at institutions of higher learning which prepare educators for the classrooms and other areas in education. My idea of providing this text is to encourage educational stakeholders to make it mandatory that pre-service and in-service teachers be trained and equipped with the skills needed to make them efficient in rural classrooms. While many teachers are attracted to urban schools because of the incentives provided by urban school districts, some teachers are also leaving urban schools due to the challenges they encounter. Challenges, such as classroom management, student behavior, large class size, and the cost of living are few of the issues that relate to the attrition of urban teachers. Believe it or not, a few of those teachers who leave urban schools go to rural districts to teach. However, these teachers go through tremendous challenges in their new learning environment, some of those challenges are but not limited to, adjusting to the rural lifestyle, rural school system, and teaching strategies they have to use in order to have a positive impact on learning in their rural classrooms.
