The inhabitants of Braggs Bottom, a small English village, mysteriously go to sleep on the strike of midnight. During the following spellbound hour, the Major of the Teddy Bear Army, together with Sergeant Boogle and Corporals Flopsey, Fluff-puff, Winkey, Jemima, Warrior, and Blade, investigate local mysteries and undertake acts of kindness. But the arrival of the Taylors on holiday changes everything.
One day, their daughter's Teddy Bear Pumpkin, is in the park. She confides in her new friend Winkey that they are 'always on holiday, moving from one place to another' and suspects her Guardian's parents of being 'up to no good.' It is later revealed that they had descended upon the village to burgle Hollingbury House and steal the renowned blue diamond called the 'Southern Star'.
A cascade of adventures ensues as the Major must steer the Taylors away from a life of crime to ensure the safety and happiness of their daughter. But how can he achieve this if he is only awake for one bewitching hour? He resolves to rally the Teddy Bear Army, who ingeniously masquerade as ghosts and spirits to intimidate the Taylors into complying with his unspoken commands.
  • And what of the enigmatic Reverend M W Hesting? Will he succeed in his quest to unearth the true owner of the stolen chalice?
  • And what is the significance of the ancient cave drawings depicting teddy bears in all of this? What secrets do they hold?
  • And what's the connection between President Theodore Roosevelt of the United States of America and the Duke of Wellington?
  • And why is the holiday cottage of the Taylors named 'Evol Tsen.'
Come and join the Teddy Bear Army and share in their adventures.
