In the small town of Dixon, Tennessee, Jimmy Joe spends 40 years living with his wife Vada, after getting her pregnant at sixteen; although, he never truly had gotten over his first love, Grace. After Grace's husband passes and after ten years without any marital intimacy, Jimmy Joe decides to confront his love for Grace and tell his best friend and wife, Vada, what he's kept hidden, but probably was more than obvious. Before he does, though, Vada shares she has stage 4 cancer and doesn't have long to live.

Grace, who is also Vada's best friend, decides to move in with them to help Jimmy Joe take care of Vada. During that time, Jimmy Joe's best friend ends up bloodied and on his back porch, hiding from an undercover cop working for the Mexican cartel. Jimmy Joe hides Carter in his bomb shelter as the plot thickens. Growing older and most times not so much wiser, Jimmy Joe finds insights and learns to deal with his own lessons in truth, understanding God, and opening his eyes to spiritual insight, as he faces his own death after a heart attack in the middle of all of this.

After writing self-help books and years of helping clients with clinical hypnotherapy, Sebastian had three car accidents in three months-one where he couldn't believe he made it out alive. He then had three subsequent spine surgeries-the first of which he temporarily lost his speaking and singing voice. In the same year, his mother, sister, brother, and dog of eighteen years all died. These moments of quiet and healing led him to write this very special novel, shedding light on the spiritual enlightenment he received facing the deaths of loved ones and the recovery of his aging body. Sebastian lived in Nashville for 30 years.
