Our media, both new and old, are structured to focus more on the negative than the positive, more on what's wrong than what's good, more on hostility and contempt than gratitude and love. Thus, our media usually fail to inform us about the positive evolutionary events and activities transpiring on our planet.

David Marshak wrote this book from the belief that humans are indeed evolving in consciousness today and that we can perceive and make sense of this evolution through the application of adult consciousness stage models, for example, Spiral Dynamics.
