Big Trip 3: USA and Canada

A personal account of our third retirement Big Trip. By plane to Anchorage in Alaska; on the Holland America ship MS Westerdam along the Alaskan and Canadian Pacific coast to to Vancouver; on VIA Rail's Canadian and Ocean trains to Halifax; Fly to Qu?bec to join the Norwegian Cruise Line's Gem ship along Canada's and the USA's Atlantic coast to Boston; back on land for Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited and California Zephyr trains to San Francisco; and finally to fly back home to Queensland, Australia. As with our earlier Big Trips most of our planning worked well, and we managed to overcome problems where it didn't.
