When I run into my childhood buddy, Nate, outside Martin's Grocery on Thanksgiving Day, he invites me to catch up at his nearby veterinary office.

Nate is just what I need to go from hopeless to hopeful about returning home after my failed marriage. He offers me the support and comfort of an old friendship, and a job as his office manager.
