Selected Stories That Happened to Me: A Collection of Personal Anecdotes

This is not a biography. It is merely a collection of anecdotes based on events that have occurred in the life I have enjoyed during the past eighty years. Life sometimes deals with humorous and incongruous events. These are true stories. I do admit to some slight embellishments in the name of poetic license.
Had I wanted to summarize my life I could have done that in fewer words than the number of years I have lived.
I was born, went to school, earned two university degrees, joined the army, retired 33 years later as a major-general. I worked for 6 years in high tech companies, chaired another, retired at 55. I married, had two children and three grandchildren, I lost my wife and son within the same year. I had heart disease and strokes, travelled intensively, became a widower, remarried. I wrote many books. I still live happily.
But this is not the point. I merely want to entertain you with simple true stories, most with a lighter side.
I invite you to join me while I was evicted from first grade, had to leave the second grade, was told to "get out of my church" in grade six, and was threatened with eviction in high school. You may wish to know how my exam was deliberately and unjustly failed during a Latin exam by a penitentiary chaplain. You will understand why and how I fell "head over heels in love with two wonderful ladies. You can visit me in our winter house in Cura?ao.
You will be able to follow me in my military career starting with a tour of duty with the United Nations, jumping from a plane without a parachute, sitting in judgment of military offences, issuing rum rations, and encountering honesty on Halloween.
I'll tell you about figure skating and deplore the death of my son. You will notice my pride at my wife's academic achievements. You will be exposed to multiple around the world trips and be introduced to all the books I have written. You will attend my wife's birthday party and follow my heart disease history. I'll try to explain my sense of humor and discuss my relations with labor unions.
Finally, I will give you marital advice that may fall under the heading "don't do that" based on nearly sixty years of union with two exceptionally tolerant wives.
All I want to achieve is to get an occasional smile from you as if we were having a drink together while I tell you some of my favorite stories.
Enjoy!
