Adopting Johnathan and his brother was one of the happiest days of my life. Having conflicting opinions and working things out is something all families go through. But raising a child with a psychological problem, which I did not believe in, made it more difficult. What I thought was growing pains and, to be blunt, selfishness was deeper than I would have imagined. The end result left me and everyone who knew and loved Johnathan completely devastated.

Johnathan's behavior would change from one minute to another. We did our best to help him. We drove from one facility to the next trying to figure out what caused him to behave in such a manner. His behavior seemed to get worse once a girl entered his world. It wasn't until I read through his writing that I realized he felt unwanted and not worthy of being loved.

This entire situation left me questioning the existence of a higher power. It made me question my parenting; I lost all confidence in being a dad. My end goal was not to write a book. Writing down my thoughts was therapy for me. The more I wrote though, the more I thought to myself, there may be others in our situation. I decided to turn my therapy into this book, hoping to help other families who are going or have gone through something similar. Just know, you are are not alone in this journey.
